چکیده

The objective of this study was to determine whether bovine embryos become more resistant to deleterious effects of maternal heat stress as early embryonic development progresses. Superovulated, lactating Holstein cows were bred by AI and assigned to be heat stressed on d 1, 3, 5, or 7 of pregnancy (d 0 =day of estrus) or not heat stressed (control). Embryos were retrieved from the uterus on d 8 and evaluated for viability and stage of development. Compared with embryos of control cows, embryos of cows receiving heat stress on d 1 had decreased viability and development. Maternal heat stress on other days had no detrimental effect on embryonic viability or stage of development. Bovine embryos become more resistant to adverse effects of maternal heat stress as pregnancy progresses; substantial resistance develops by d 3. This infonnation may be useful in design of environmental modification systems that provide cooling at critical periods of gestation to enhance pregnancy rates during summer in hot climates. (

ارزیابی روند تغییرات فصلی تنش های گرمایی طی نیم قرن اخیر در چند نمونه اقلیمی ایران

Background and Objectives: Nowadays, indicators related to human physiology have special roles in human bioclimatic and environmental studies. One of these indices is Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET). In the present study, trends of physiological equivalent temperature index over the past half century, which is the foundation of plans, especially in the field of health and environment...

Effect of proline, soluble carbohydrates and water potential on resistance to salinity of three Salsola species (S.rigida, S. dendroides, S.richteri)

Abstract Various resistances to salinity are due to plants genetically variations, and selection on the basis of one factor will not be a suitable criterion in measurement of resistance to salinity, therefore in choosing resistant varieties, it is necessary to notice to a set of resistant indexes to salinity, creating changes in physiology, anatomy and morphology of plant species. This resear...

Overcrowding Stress Management in Broiler Chicken with Herbal Antistressor

Overcrowding of broiler chicks due to lack of space induces harmful effects which act as predisposing factor in the reduction of production and performance in poultry. Supplementation of antistressor products can ameliorate adverse effect of various stressors in poultry. An experiment was designed by inducing overcrowding stress and its management by supplementation of polyherbal antistressor, ...

Effects of Crocin on Oxidative Stress Indices in Rat Brain Demylated with Ethidium Bromide

Background and purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of crocin (Cr) on brain oxidative stress indices in animal model demyelinated with intracerebroventricular ethidium bromide (EB). Materials and methods: In an interventional study, female Wistar rats were randomly divided into 7 groups. Crocin administration was done 1 day after EB injection for 21 days. The value...

A 3-D mathematical model to identify organ-specific risks in rats during thermal stress.

Early prediction of the adverse outcomes associated with heat stress is critical for effective management and mitigation of injury, which may sometimes lead to extreme undesirable clinical conditions, such as multiorgan dysfunction syndrome and death. Here, we developed a computational model to predict the spatiotemporal temperature distribution in a rat exposed to heat stress in an attempt to ...
